Duke has grown from 10 employees with just  Oldsmobile and Cadillac to over 50 employees with Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, Pontiac, GMC, and one of the best selections of Pre-Owned vehicles in the area. History Behind Duke Automotive
 
1959 - Ray Duke accepts a sales position with Brothers Olds-Cadillac on Main Street in Suffolk
1968 - Mr. Duke accepts an offer to purchase the dealership, renames it Duke Olds-Cadillac, and is joined in business by his son, R. Eley Duke, Jr. Total employees number 15.
1989 - R. Eley Duke, Jr. loses battle with cancer. His widow, Lydia Duke joins her father-in-law to continue the family business.
1990 - Duke acquires the Buick, Pontiac, and GMC franchises.
1994 - Duke acquires the Chevrolet franchise, making it one of a handful of dealers nationally with all GM makes under one roof.
1997 - R. Eley Duke, III completes his college education and joins the family business.
2002 -Ray Duke retires at age 85 to spend more time with his wife of 60 years and to watch his beloved Washington Redskins and Atlanta Braves. General Motors retires the Oldsmobile nameplate-ending a 30-year partnership with Duke Olds-Cadillac.
2003 - Lydia Duke is named Dealer Principal by General Motors and is elected company President by the Board of Directors. The company is re-named Duke Automotive, Corp. The employee count is now 55.
2004 - Ray Duke dies at age 86—his presence is missed by Duke Team members and customers alike.
2009 - Duke Automotive, Corp. is selected as a “Continuing Dealer” with General Motors for Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac, and GMC. GM retires the Pontiac nameplate but service to Pontiac vehicles will continue as long as they are owned by our customers.
